Growing Better Lives is a community interest company that develops and researches innovative approaches to Mental Healthcare. It runs various projects, among which: GREENCARE, aimed at improving treatment plans by connecting people to nature; LIVING AND LEARNING, aimed at developing training programs for practitioners and operators working in the field of Mental Healthcare; SOCIAL FUTURE, a research project for the development of innovative strategies in the area of Mental Healthcare. The project is carried out in cooperation with the Institutes of Mental Health in Berkshire.

GROWING BETTER LIVES is linked to the Centre for Social Future, a research division of the Institute of Mental Health of the University of Nottingham - Jubilee Campus, Innovation Park, Triumph Road, Nottingham NG7 2TU – and to the Assertive Intervention and Stabilisation Team (ASSIST), established to offer support to people affected by mental illness who have been frequently hospitalised in the psychiatric department of the hospital in Slough. The project aims at reducing hospitalisations in favour of a stable inclusion in the society. It counts on a network for prevention and intervention on mental illnesses through psychiatric rehabilitation centres in the whole region of Berkshire. Besides individual therapy, the project uses sports, nature, and the “Hope” college, offering tuition of retake students.
