The Estuar Foundation was established in 1993 to offer services in the field of Mental Healthcare. It manages five rehabilitation centres in Bucharest, Cluj, Ploiesti and Giurgiu, and four family-homes in Bucharest. The foundation’s primary goal is to provide adults affected by mental illnesses with viable alternatives to the hospitalisation, to give them the chance of social inclusion.

Estuary offers psychological, and psychiatric support focused on placement and work integration; training courses for users, operators and practitioners; it manages day care centres and involves more than 600 users. The number of users of Estuar’s many services is about 2000 persons per year. The foundation operates at a national level, and it cooperates in many projects within a network of international partners in ES, PT, FI, IT, DE, BE. Estuar is an associate member of the Mental Health Europe network. It takes part in various projects on a European, national, and local level.
